Polycarbonate lenses are the largest alternative used in modern lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are more expensive than acrylic or glasses lenses but many people prefer them because of their durability, light weight, great transparency and high infraction index. Rub the soapy solution onto the polycarbonate lenses using a cotton rag. Avoid the use of brushes, squeegees and abrasive materials, any of which might scratch the polycarbonate surface.
How can I take good care of my rimless glasses?
March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »A good way for taking good care of rimless eyeglass is to put the frameless glasses in a protective case whenever they are not in use. When taking off the rimless eyeglass from face, use two hands. One-handedness is not a good habit which will break and crook the rimless eyewear easily. Always keep in mind frameless glasses require more delicate care than regular frames.

March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »Recently, I went in for an eye exam and found out that my prescription had slightly changed. Not enough to warrant new glasses though. So, I just kept wearing what I had.
Until Firmoo contacted me.
They wanted me to select a pair of frames to review which would also include my updated prescription! Uhhh, YES PLEASE!
So I selected something different from what I currently had……….a bigger frame in a lighter color with some gold details. They arrived in a fun little case, and I loved how they looked……..
When I tried them on, they fit like a dream! The prescription was perfect too………
I think glasses could be an addiction for me. If they weren’t so expensive, I would order a bunch in different colors and styles!
That’s why I think Firmoo is great! They offer sales all the time! Right now they are offering new customers 50% off their first pair! Pretty darn good, if you ask me!
Now, who needs new spectacles? Go take advantage of their new customer special!!!

Firmoo Glasses
March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »First of all, wow this month has been busy! I cannot believe I haven’t blogged in almost a month, so sorry! I was in NYC for a week at the end of February, just got back from California yesterday and am now headed to NYC again in a few hours. But don’t worry, lots of pictures and outfits coming your way!!
Growing up I always wanted glasses; maybe it was because I thought I’d look smarter or because my dad wore them, but I wanted to jump on the glasses bandwagon. In high school I actually had to get them and they’ve remained an essential accessory in my everyday life. I have yet to switch to contacts because I just love collecting funky pairs of glasses, and that is why I was ecstatic when Firmoo reached out to me to collaborate. I have been on the hunt for a red pair of glasses – I have a black, a brown and a tortoise pair but needed some spice in my life. I chose these adorable red pair and love them! This was the first time I’ve ordered prescription glasses online and was extremely satisfied with the process; I was able to plug in my prescription info and even virtually try on the glasses. I hope you love these glasses as much as I do and I highly recommend trying Firmoo to order your next prescription (or funsies) glasses!

PHOTO BOOTH FASHION // GIRLS & GLASSES (FEATURING FIRMOO!)
March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »Some of my favorite photos of all times are those iconic, sentimental skinny strips of photo paper that are printed out of photo booths, capturing funny faces, model-expressions and, in most cases, unique fashions from the neck up. Photo booths are a commodity that have gone through the eras almost completely unscathed, with the end motive always being fun, candidly awkward memories to file away in our boxes of nostalgia.
Looking back at photo booth strips from the 1940s and 50s can be quite inspirational in the case of fashion. Much of the time, ladies would always have such perfectly trés chic accessories and hairstyles that put the beach waves and messy up-dos of today to shame. These little gems of fragile photo paper can act as amazing inspiration for ladies today to be more thoughtful and put-together, from literally head to toe. Today, we girls are excited to introduce our latest blog series: Photo Booth Fashion! This new column in our fashion category is designed to inspire you, our readers, to pay attention to what’s going on from the shoulders up, and make the best style choices of how we choose to accentuate the first area that people we meet from day to day see.
We are excited to be partnering up with Firmoo to present this first edition of this series! Although we girls aren’t the glasses-wearing type, we were quite intrigued to find out that this once prescription-based necessity is making its way in the world of clothing as a accessory & fashion statement. We girls selected #F036, a gorgeous pair of tortoise-shell looking frames, which just exuded retro/secretary flair. Along with the glasses came the most adorable map printed hard case, a soft case, a little screw driver to tighten the bolts, and a microfiber cloth for cleaning. See how we styled them below!
HOW WE STYLED THEM
Sweater: Thrifted // Glasses c/o Firmoo // Earrings: Clothes Mentor
Jessica is all spring & simplicity in her classic outfit. With a clean, fresh face of makeup, neatly done braids, and some sparkling earrings to complement the glasses, and add a bit of seasonal glamour; Jessica is perfectly polished and ready to go for a day around the house, or out on the town.
Sweater: Thrifted (F21) // Glasses c/o Firmoo // Earrings: Antique Store
I had in mind the academic teen fashions of the 40’s when figuring out my ensemble. A sweater with classic color-working, a swipe of pink lipstick, messy bouffant, and daisy earrings make my look practical and fun. The classic glasses finish off my outfit with a bit of geeky retro flair.
Top: Target // Sweater: Thrifted // Glasses c/o Firmoo // Accessories c/o A Pocket of Whimsy
Brigid is all a-go for adventure in her outfit. The color story of her outfit reminds me much of an old book cover or map design, with the pale blue of her cardigan, rust red of her shirt, and her glasses, necklace and bobby pin adding interest and texture.
THE REVIEW
We girls were very interested in trying out a new accessory type for our outfits, and are happy to review for you all our experience with Firmoo eyewear. We were very impressed with the great variety of frames they offered on their site, ranging from contemporary & fashion-forward to retro & classic. Here’s the breakdown of our experience:
The Pros
- The awesome cases and utility accessories
- Well-made
- The one pair of frames flattering all our faces perfectly
- Practical design
- Fast shipping
- Amazing prices!
The Cons
- The only con that we girls have is a pretty big let-down for us: the frames that we got are too big. Any time that we would wear the glasses, they would always be slipping down to the bridge of our nose, making them a constant hassle to keep on. This could be attributed to two things: 1) they are unisex glasses, which means their build could be of a more generous nature. 2) we just have super small heads
We girls have tried bending the legs of the glasses after warming them in hot water, but that didn’t help much (in fact, it seemed to make it worse). We may just try adding in little pads to the legs to help them stay on.
The Verdict
Overall, we were very impressed with the service that Firmoo has to offer. They are definitely the most inexpensive glasses company we girls have ever come across, and that’s a big factor in our decision to purchase or review. If you are at all concerned about the problem that we girls had with the sizing, perhaps going with a women’s frame might help. Anyhow, now’s your time to try because Firmoo is offering all new customers 50% off their first purchase! An awesome incentive, if you ask me! So, if you are in the market for a new pair of frames, or want to experiment with a new accessory, then we girls whole-heartedly recommend Firmoo eyewear!

A Beach Getaway and New Shades from Firmoo
March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »The future is so bright we have to wear shades!
Do you ever find yourself pulling your sunglasses on and off, on and off, based on quickly changing light conditions? They are on my head, they are back on my face, or temporarily dropped on the floor. I especially notice this when I’m traveling. I’m in the airport, on the tarmac, in shadowy hallway, or on a plane with changing light levels. It’s a surefire way to lose our sunglasses. I was recently contacted by Firmoo and offered a pair of glasses for review. The process of ordering with Firmoo, the online optical shop, is simple. The website has a ‘virtual’ try-on system, so I uploaded a photo of myself and was able to get a sneak peek of any pair in their huge selection. I decided to mix it up for spring and selected a pearl gray pair similar. With spring and summer travel coming up, I added the transition lenses to add to the functionality of the glasses. You can see the shaded lenses above.
My Firmoo glasses arrived in 8 days, and that included the time for upgrading the progressive lenses. The shades were neatly packaged, with a stylish global motif case, cleaning cloth, bag and handy eyeglass screwdriver. I am very pleased with the quality of my glasses. The transition lenses are already working well as I move between our house and sunny back terrace. I will definitely be taking them on our trip to Los Cabos later this week. I also noted that the Firmoo website saves your image for ease of future ‘virtual’ styling and ordering. These glasses are fun clear or shaded.
Firmoo.com is the world’s most popular online eyeglasses store. I will definitely use Firmoo the next time I need to order my prescriptive lenses. The quality and the affordable pricing make fashionable lenses accessible. Firmoo is currently offering a First Pair Free deal so it’s a great time to get your eye wear collection geared up for the sunshine.
The toes are ready for some sand and sunshine!
As for us, spring break has just arrived! My pre-travel ritual is usually a fresh pedicure. I went with Essie Buy Me a Cameo shade. It’s a pretty rose-gold shade that goes with pale skin, or skin with bit of vacation color. My cute pedicure technician looked at my toes and said, “Pretty…it’s nude!” He then suggested some sparkles to zhush it up. It’s old school glam (circa 2000?) but I bit on it. I told him he was a good salesman!
So this is how our evening went last night. I highly recommend putting on your vacation hats, cranking up some tunes, Scott picked Ed Sheeran, and having a dance party as you pack. Work has been stressful for us both, so we are more than ready to get on that plane! One thing I’m not packing for this trip, 20 lbs.! It’s fun to fit into some of my favorite outfits that have been too tight for several years. If you are struggling, and I know I was, it feels so good to find a way of eating that is healthy, delicious and helps me lose the weight here.

I can see China from here
March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »About a month ago, I blogged about my favorable experience buying eyeglasses online from a place called EyeBuy Direct. The very next day, I received an email from another online eyewear company, asking if I would be interested in receiving a free pair of eyeglasses in exchange for a no-strings-attached review of their glasses, service and website. Since a girl can never have too many pairs of eyeglasses, I agreed.
The company’s name is Firmoo, which sounds more like some new-age dairy product than an optical store, but what do I know? On my first visit to their website, they appeared to have an extensive collection of frames and lots of good information about purchasing eyewear online, but something was just a little bit off. I kept on reading and concluded I was not dealing with a U.S.-based company. All the text was written in English but with a twist. For example:
Now I get it. Firmoo is in China and English is some marketer’s second language. That’s cool. I can handle it. Free glasses are free glasses.
Aside from making me giggle, their website has a few features that I really liked, such as closeup photographs of all parts of the frames and the ability to try on many pairs of glasses at one time:

CREATE8~TRANSITIONING PATTERNS & FIRMOO REVIEW
March 18th, 2015 by firmoo No comments »Hello, Monday! Hope ya’ll had a lovely weekend. Thankfully, we are all well in our household. Very thankful to have a productive weekend, even if it mostly consisted of writing papers which puts me closer to be finished with this course.
As I was looking through my closet and decided what to post for this transition time, my eyes fell upon a couple of houndstooth pieces I used in Create28. Patterned bottoms are everywhere this spring and there are some extraordinary lovely ones that I have seen. That made me think it would be fun to style my houndstooth skirt and ankle pants. I found a little inspiration on Pinterest for the skirt look.
I loved the look by J who blogs at J’s Everyday Fashion. I believe she was styling this for fall but I thought I would try it for spring. The bright green top is one I know I’ll be wearing quite a bit over next few months and I think this is great way to get it into the spring rotation.
By the way, do you notice anything different about me? I received these new glasses from Firmoo. They recently contacted me and inquired if I would be interested in reviewing a pair of glasses. Just so happened that I was due for a new pair of readers so I jumped on the opportunity. I wasn’t sure what to expect for quality but I have to admit I really like them. The quality and fit were spot on. I have ordered glasses online before trying Firmoo but to be honest, I like Firmoo better. This is a surprise to me because I expected not to like them.
Here’s the skirt look with another shot of the glasses too.
These frames are burgundy but they came in other colors too. Most of their frames come in a variety of sizes and colors. You can try them on online by uploading a photo of yourself and get a virtual look. This was super helpful in order to choose which ones I liked best.
Back to style…my houndstooth ankle pants are making the transition to spring as well. I’m simply switching out bottoms of the same pattern to get my next look.
skirt/ON {similar} pants/ON {similar} top/the limited {similar} belt/the limited {similar} necklace/charlotte russe {similar} shoes/payless {similar}
I really like how this look turned out with the skirt and the pants. I can see myself wearing both in the upcoming months of Spring. What about you? Are you planning to incorporate some patterned bottoms this Spring? Have you thought about any that might be hanging in your closet and how you might push them into Spring? Love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
One more thing about Firmoo. These glasses came in a great case with cleaning rag AND the little tool to tighten them. I have never received that little screwdriver any other time when I purchased glasses. I thought that was a sweet deal. If you are interested in a pair of great glasses, please head over to Firmoo and you’ll receive 50% by using following this link. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by ordering from Firmoo. I will using them again for my next pair of readers.
Hope to see you Wednesday for another Create8 Spring Transitions Look. Have a lovely day, friends.
