An eye clinic is a place or hospital department offering eye care. The mission of the eye clinics is to provide a wide range of optometric services for each patient. There are mainly three kinds of staffs in the eye clinic: ophthalmologists, optometrists and optician. Both ophthalmologists and optometrists in the eye clinics can do routine eye exams including detecting of visual acuity, closer exam of the outer structures of the Eye, view the retina and associated structures, and other health problems using professional equipment of the eye clinics. They can deal with the most common eye problem of refractive errors and can prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses to make the patient see clearly and stock fashionable eyewear in the eye clinic. Opticians in the eye clinic can use the prescriptions written by either ophthalmologists or optometrists to fit and sell eyeglasses for the patients.

Besides refractive errors, there’re many other kinds of eye diseases. Relevantly, there’re usually many subspecialties in the eye clinics. Each subspecialty in the eye clinic has one or more ophthalmologists, expert in a specific area, such as cataracts, corneal diseases, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, vitreo-retinal surgery, oculoplastics, pediatric eye care, sports eye clinics, eye alignment disorders and refractive surgery (LASIK).

When choosing an eye clinic for eye surgery, some factors should be considered. These factors including: the doctors’ experience, expertise and attitude, the history of the eye clinic, the instrument used in the eye clinic.
