Founded in 1990, National Vision is headquartered in Lawrenceville, GA. National Vision was purchased by a investment firm Berkshire Partners in 2005. Recently National Vision acquired Eyeglass World, a chain name of some 64 optical stores in USA.

The optical retails of National Vision are under five names, they respectively are the Vision Center in about 200 Walmart stores (occupies the majority of the National Vision retails), the Optical Center in some military bases, the Optical Shoppe in the country’s strongest superstore chain Fred Meyer, the growth brand America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses whose store count will be doubled in the next several years, and the recently-bought Eyeglass World. For above different types of retail stores, National Vision has different product portfolio of suitable prices to meet the needs of the different customers. In addition, by capitalizing on the new emerging technology and trend, National Vision has also set up two websites to sell contacts online through MailBoxContacts.com and BestContacts.com.

National Vision sells designer eyeglasses, sunglasses, contacts at the lowest possible prices. Some discount stores sell the complete pair of prescription glasses starting from $39. For patients’ conveniences, most of the National Vision optical stores have optometrists on the site.

The lab facilities of National Vision are centralized in three locations in USA, which are Pennsauken NJ, St.Clout Minnesota and Lawrenceville GA. National Vision also has a China lab for lenses fitting, which reduces the general cost of the eyeglasses from National Vision, and enables it so pass on the savings to customers.

Eyeglass World used to be a part of Vision Care Holdings LLC, but was acquired by the fourth largest optical retailer National Vision in Jan, 2009. After acquisition, Eyeglass World will continue to operate under the same name.
